AGELESS AQUATICS

balance without the fear of falling and improve strength while reducing joint pain from arthritis and other chronic pain issues.

SENIOR STRENGTH

WHEN:
Tuesday: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
LOCATION:
Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre: Group Fitness Room
DESCRIPTION:
Combat weakness and frailty with exercises to build muscle strength and muscle mass to preserve bone density, independence, and vitality with age.

STAYING STEADY

WHEN:
Thursday: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
LOCATION:
Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre: Group Fitness Room
DESCRIPTION:
Reduce the risk of imbalances with specific exercises to build and maintain a good balance. Enhance your strength, stamina, and flexibility to feel confident in moving.

FAQs:

Each class will be run by a university-qualified Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) or Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES). The classes are delivered either at Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre or via Telehealth. The benefits of attending a class run by an accredited Exercise Professional include:

  • Improved safety during exercises
  • Exercises that are better targeted to your needs
  • Ongoing health and advice to help you stay active
  • Referral pathways to other health professionals or services that may suit your needs

Each participant may be eligible for:

  • 1 x pre-exercise screening
  • 1 x pre-assessment
  • 12 x 30-minute sessions*
  • 1 x post-assessment

Each participant may be eligible for: *must be completed within 16 weeks

To access government subsidies, we require the following co-payments:

  • Pre-Screening – Free
  • Initial Assessment – $18.50 one-off payment
  • Exercise Session –$8.00 per session*
  • Post Assessment – Free

* The subsidies only apply to 12 classes no matter how long a class you do.

The program is open to inactive older Australians over the age of 65. Indigenous Australians who are over 55 can also enrol in the program. You must complete a pre-screening assessment before commencing the classes. This can be done over the phone or via video.
